Entering the truck and motor trade straight from university, Neil has spent more than 20 years building up his career, including a stint in the Middle East.

To underline his determination to make his mark, Neil, the UK and Ireland Sales Manager for Rightech trucks, explains how keen he was to get on with the job.

“I picked up my degree from Lancaster University on the Friday and while most people went off on a gap year I had a gap weekend, starting work at a Mercedes-Benz dealer group on the Monday! I couldn’t wait to get started,” he explained.

Starting in the service department at Mercedes near where he grew up in Liverpool, Neil moved into sales before taking over a position at Volvo – setting up a truck rental company within the dealership.

Enticed back by Mercedes to work as group sales manager for a dealer group, Neil was then off to the Middle East for two years, regional manager for military vehicle sales for Daimler Truck.

“I really enjoyed the job and loved getting to grips with a completely new environment, but I have a young family who stayed behind in England so while we made it work for almost two years it wasn’t something we could think about long term.”

Being back in Liverpool also enables Neil to indulge his lifelong passion – supporting Everton.

“I’ve been a season-ticket holder since I was five and can’t wait for the new season in the new stadium to start.”

Returning to the UK, Neil worked as truck sales director for a couple of different dealer groups. He is delighted to now be at Rightech.

“I knew some people who were working at Wrightbus in the international division – working on trucks, developing the hydrogen technology – and I was just really interested in developing my career in line with net zero,” he says.

“The Rightech products are market leading and prove that trucks are pivotal in the race to decarbonise the transport sector.”
