Sharon van Beek
Two things that Sharon van Beek knows are the mobility sector and business start-ups. Now Sharon is bringing those skills together as Director of Imports at Rightech.
Sharon, who studied International Business in her home country of the Netherlands, has spent the last 10 years working in e-mobility.
Despite still living in her native Netherlands, Sharon has only ever worked for German companies. She is fluent in Dutch, German and English.
During her studies, Sharon was offered an internship in the automotive industry and wrote a thesis on electric vehicle OEMs. Off the back of that she was offered a position with e.Go Mobile AG – a German manufacturer of EVs and sustainable mobility systems.
“I joined the company in 2015 when there were just 27 employees,” she says.
“We literally only had a garage to operate out of. I was part of setting up the international sales team of that company and was involved in the B2C, B2B and international sales strategy.”
From there, Sharon joined MOOVE GmbH (now Cubonic GmbH) which specialises in fully electric and autonomous shuttles and vans, before moving on to Quantron AG, a hydrogen-powered truck maker, where she worked as International Key Account Manager and Head of Investor Relations.
“I have always had an interest in sales, and with Quantron I was responsible for selling and developing new markets for heavy duty hydrogen trucks,” says Sharon.
“My previous companies all had an EV focus and this was my first experience of hydrogen. Now, at Rightech, I am focused on EVs again.”
Sharon joined Rightech after speaking to a former colleague who also now works for the company. He told Sharon the company was looking for someone used to business start-ups, and her CV fit the bill perfectly.
Unlike her previous companies, however, this time Sharon and the team have the backing of industry experts from Wrightbus.
“It is a good situation for us that we’re a start-up, but with an established company behind us. This is something new for me – it’s the first time I’ve been able to make use of a structured company with industry experience in the background.
“You can see that there is a lot of experience at Wrightbus in all departments. Wrightbus is obviously structured around the bus business, but that all ties in with what we are doing with trucks. Everyone is focused on making the truck side of the business a success.
“There is a lot of synergy with teams and companies within the Bamford Bus Company trying to help each other, which is great to be a part of.”
